Hmm...
Looking at the f/1.4 vs. f/1.8 Nikkor 50mm lenses, I see the smallest aperture is 16 for the 1.4, but 22 for the 1.8.
On one hand, I feel that if I am going to buy a superfast lens like this I might as well go all the way and get the 1.4 (and compared to my recent 80-400VR lens purchase, the cost of either of these lenses would be trivial!). 1.4 would make this a more versatile lens to use for general purpose photography.
On the other hand, the smaller aperture (f/22) of the 1.8 would give me greater depth of field if I also use this (with bellows) for macro-photography.
But on the other hand (I guess I must have 3 hands!)....maybe the effective apertures are so low with bellows that this difference would be sort of a moot point anyway?
Thoughts?
(Yes, I need to read up some on the use of bellows. Fooling around with bellows and such never really appealed to me before, but this guy's macro shots really have gotten me thinking.)
