The 28/1.8 is one of the few primes I haven't owned or used personally, but from what I've heard it's not a very compelling lens optically. The 35/2 is a real peach for the money, but wide open it's soft at the edge even on a crop camera. That said, I love it and if you can get one used you really can't beat the price going that wide.
