1/150 at 55mm... are you kidding mate? I can hand hold a steady 1/40 shot any day at that focal length. I have taken shake free shots hand holding my 17-40mm at 1/8sec, I have taken steady shots with my 70-200 at 200mm at 90mm. Statistics are good, having some idea of technique is better and costs less;).
