Reply to Canon 40D with which lens combination, help please?

Just go with the 40D and be done with it, it's a great camera with features you will be learning for years:p. Any 8mp+ camera should be fine for A3 printings.

Since this is your first DSLR I would get:

1. 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5

2. 24-70mm F2.8L

and a 70-200. TBH, I think the F2.8 IS is overkill for your first camera but hey, if you are willing to spend then go ahead. I would think a 70-200F4L IS would be plenty good enough though and much lighter to take a long.

I would look into a 50mm F/1.4 prime (great value for money and you will be thankful for it for low light) and the 100mm f/2.8 macro lens as well down the line.

I got a 30D, 17-40mm and 70-200F4L for my first dslr set-up and my next purchase (probably during current rebates) will be a 50mm F/1.4 and a 77mm circular polarizer (and step up filters). After that down the line probably the 100mm macro lens. But to tell you the truth, I am satisfied with what I've got and could live happily with it for much longer:p.
