Reply to How Much Post Processing Do You Do?

I purchased the D80 to get good (better) shots (IMO) .

It seems a bit of a problem to me now, I now have to use Elements, to dress some shot "up".

This is not why I got the camera ,my first DSLR camera shots never saw a PP programme and all were acceptable to me and my family .

I find it a bit disappointing to have purchased thousands of dollars of camera gear just to have to then buy a PP programme to change my shots ,and sometimes ruin them .

Its like going to see a Movie nowadays ,whats real and whats computer generated ,sometimes its hard to discern ?

My photography has become an obsession (not a hobby ), trying to get the best shots ,realising I can PP the shot and not worrying to much about my settings etc (or trying to remember to adjust this ,change that and missing that Good Shot) ?

Embracing Technology is damn expensive but not always rewarding .

My 50 yr old shots in BW from a Plastic Kodak box camera were rewarding ,but I suppose I ` was' Embracing the Technology of the day?

Im learning more about photography each day reading these helpful post ,but my shots arnt getting better .

I`m probably better off just using Auto mode and getting some fair shots ,sell Elements 5 on ebay and get on with life .

I take thousand's of shots each month and love it but I dont get the same enjoyment from Photography anymore .

Mainly because ,,,after looking at similar shots taken with the same D80 camera ,who use the same Nikon lenses ,who use CS2, Elements ,NX ,Lightroom and the complete resources of the Pixar Movie Industry ,my shots look plain bloody ordinary .

Its become an obsession with technology ,not so much a hobby .

This is not to say i dont admire all YOU out there who make a living and enjoy your hobby fiddling around ,changing this, doing that to get what YOU want.

Its cleaver stuff but not IMO photography anymore .

Its Pixel adjusting ,go to the Movies and see what is real and whats not ,cleaver but misleading ?

I still love my D80 and getting out there shooting .
