i am hoping they go ahead and do it. even though i have a 50mm 1.8 lens, and am practicing my manual focusing skills with it.; i would still be in line to get one, for obvious reasons.
i orginally got the 50 mm lens for larger apeture settings. the kit lens wasn't doing it for me.
at the end of the day, i think nikon putting out this lens would satisfy the burgeoning "prosumer" market that's out there. the market the D40/x is geared to, those who want to get more creative with their photography, like me. the fact that they introduced the VR technology on the 18-55mm is saying something right?
