I’ve had to send the lens I use the most often in for servicing.
It was my AS-S DX 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF Zoom-Nikkor Lens. To most people, that means not so much. To some people, especially Jeff, they will know it’s my most versatile lens which I tend to use for a whole heck of a lot of things.
When I spoke with Nikon service - they said it’d take about 3 weeks turnaround for me to get my lens back. That means there’s a seriously decent chance that LDS Photography is suspended until I get that lens back. I could fudge along with my 50 mm f/1.8 but uh, I’d be adjusting the location of my tripod a whole heck of a lot while trying to take pictures.
Bah. Of course that triggered me into looking at the lenses out there trying to decide on a lens that would be good for say, wedding photography - especially one that could handle low light so that it would reduce my need to use a flash during ceremonies and would allow me to take action shots in situations like a reception.
Honestly, lenses are so not cheap in any stretch of the imagination. Both of the lenses I looked at were literally around $1500. Now I’m sure Jeff would be able to recommend a couple of lenses but my problem is budget - it’s just not time for me to get a new lens yet. So hopefully, I’ll get my favorite lens back soon.
