My trusty 20D and not as trusty 17-85 IS are going to new homes this week, as I receive my new kit. Spot metering is, in my opinion, the greatest form of metering. At least for the types of photography I do. Outside, under spot illumination, in smoky clubs, in the auditorium, nothing beats the precise control of spot metering. The upgraded version of Canon’s cheapest and therefore most popular lens is something I am very happy to take hold of. Having experienced the near orgasmic quality of the non-IS version and the 200mm f/2.8L lens, rest assured, there is nothing higher on my mind than getting my grimy hands on this combo astriene.
