D40. The D80 is getting long in the tooth and is probably next in line for replacement. My D40 Comments above notwithstanding, the D40 is a superb camera. I use AF-S lenses and I'm perfectly able to focus my plain old AF and non-AF lenses by hand and eye, too, when I use them. Go take a look at the D40 user's group and see what the camera can do.
I fully intend to go on figuring out this Strobist thing with my D40 and it hasn't held me back so far.
