Would have to say that, unless you're planning on specializing your style towards fish-eye effects, go w/ the 17-55 2.8 (agree w/ N0SAJ on this) and pick up the 10.5mm later on down the line as a toy.
I want a fish, too, but I've got my main lenses already (18-200mm VR, Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 24-70mm), so I don't have to make the this-or-that decision.
Sigma's coming out w/ 2 new lenses next month
-10mm wide (diagonal)
-4mm circular fish-eye (~$1100, tho')
Something to keep in mind.
