Reply to Difference between a "Normal" Lens and a "Macro" Lens

To work out magnification divide the size of the object photographed into the size of the film or sensor. In this example 7mm on the photo divided into the width of the film in this case 24mm therefore magnification is 3.5x approx. But with some digital camera's the image is digitized as well to give greater macro. ie digitaly enlarges the image. Similar to digital zoom. The example show here is the actual width of the negative 24 mm.
