This is interesting because I am in the exact same dilemma as you: first the kit lens, then the 85, now lookin for the next decision.
It's probably a good idea to get something MUCH wider than 85mm... if you got a 50mm that still wouldn't be that wide on your camera. A 28mm prime would probably be better... perhaps the canon 28mm f/1.8.
The Canon 200mm f/2.8 would be a good choice if you think you need to long end more.
