D40 new user (under a week..) have question about 70-300mm lenses

the price ranges of these lenses



Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR ($500 on sale)

Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED AF ($320)

Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6G AF ($136) on sale



i know the top auto focuses and has VR



and the bottom 2 doesnt auto focus my question is the price worth less the aggrevation of manually focusing.. or am i simplying this?..
