Reply to How about to choose the lens?

why wouldn't you be? it is a FANTASTIC lens, regardless of price tag. the OP wanted to do portraits, so i would suggest the 85/50 combo. if he wants longer, the 135 is there too.



again, i knew i'd get flamed for my assertions, but i am just not a zoom guy. you think that is obvious? ;=)



i still would recommend you rent a few lenses to see what they are capable of. or see if there are any canon clubs near you to join. i'm sure all forms of lenses can be found near you without having to buy sight unseen.



one other thing about that 70-200. i don't know how big a guy/gal you are, but you better eat your wheaties before lugging that monster around for a full day. i'm a 6'-0"; 195lb macho dude, and i wouldn't consider doing it ;=)



go shoot the 85mm...you'll buy it the next day.
